Resistencia, video mono canal, 2019

In 2019 when I made Resistencia I was thinking about my own experience, my experience as an individual, as a woman, as a black woman and artist. Invisible racism does exist. After what humanity has gone through in recent times, I am now also thinking about other levels of experience: the body’s, the organism’s and the mind’s. Levels of resistance have been discovered, of strengths to move forward that the individual was perhaps unaware of. For me, resistance is now not only on a personal level, but also on a collective level. I can’t think of another work, or another experience, that better describes what has been experienced during all this time.
