Simulaciones, Paper and glue, 2002.

Working with fashion magazines where the woman is always presented as a happy person due to the perfect-make-up face, or well dressed, I used these magazine images, in order to express what is precisely hidden, to represent in this way how a violent vivid history can be just behind a well-shaped face with a solid appearance. These image series are also an interpretation of the phenomenon itself in other spheres, other social strata, but in this case it is not the person in isolation what we see trying to hide his internal conflicts or troubles, but on the contrary a society, a country, an Institution, a speech…to give solutions to things, pretending that there are other reality, or making up what exist already, turning the problem even more complex. To disguise us behind an image and to make-up the surface of a problem are fast solutions that hided them but they do not put an end to the real conflict.
