Not forgotten, 2026

In the installation with black tourmalines, they are glued and suspended from the ceiling. Each tourmaline will bear the names of African ancestors, names that research indicates were common in the regions where many people were kidnapped and brought to the Americas. The work addresses the forced journey endured by those who survived, and the ones who died in the way. It was not only a physical journey, but one in which genes, knowledge, religion, and much more were taken outside Africa to many regions in the world.
